10 Stunning Photos that will make you want to stay at elsa’s kopje lodge

The views at Elsa’s Kopje Lodge in Meru are so beautiful that every time I’ve posted a photo on Instagram, I have gotten comments and private messages from people asking me if this place really does exist in this country or if I actually just pulled these pictures out of thin air. As if the Kenya I am so proud of is not capable of such sheer beauty. Have you looked around? That is why I love to blog and share new finds on Social Media. Sometimes it is for the citizens who need the inspiration to look beyond their doorsteps and comfort zones, or for the foreigners searching online for the ideal places to plan their next getaway to.

This lodge can be credited for shifting the plight of Meru National Park which before Elsa’s, was struggling to bring in income from visitors and was to be de-gazetted and possibly turned into a rice plantation. Thank goodness that wasn’t the case, and today you can still view large herds of elephants, hippos, lions, rhinos and a variety of birds. Activities therefore include game drives, excursions to the Tana River, rhino sanctuary (home to over 70 black and white rhinos), nature walks, fishing (you might be lucky to catch some tilapia, catfish or barbell) and cultural visits to the surrounding Tharaka community. You could also just have your wedding or honeymoon here!

Each open-front, open-plan cottage is uniquely designed and elegantly furnished, and you can pick either the family cottage, honeymoon suites or private house.

One of my favourite things about Elsa’s Kopje is the private outdoor baths that come with the cottages, as well as the infinity pools overlooking the park.

The menu majors in North Italian Cuisine fused with other palate-pleasing continental influences. Expect to find pasta (complimented by fresh salads with ingredients sourced from its own garden) and pizzas, the latter being baked in the camp’s outdoor wood-fired oven. Have your bush breakfast in the plains with wildlife milling about. Watch the beautiful sun set with your favourite cocktail or glass of wine at hand. At night, enjoy memorable, romantic, candle-lit dinners under the stars! What’s more, they are happy to cater to your special diet be it vegan, vegetarian or gluten-free.Elsa's Kopje Lodge KenyaElsa's Kopje Lodge Kenya

Just arrived back home from spending 7 wonderful nights at Elsa’s Kopje, it was our 4 the time since 2010 and each time we visit,it gets harder and harder to leave :- the food, all the camp staff (from front of house to the behind the scene staff) are all fantastic!!
You are treated like kings and queens. The guides are just superb. Last but not least our hosts Phillip and Charlene, camp managers, they are so passionate about Elsa’s, I think it must be in their blood. Many many thanks for your wonderful hospitality, until we return …..

I have dreamed of visiting Africa for many years. I love the country and the wildlife. I have friends there and it would be great to visit them.
